Who We Are
Welcome to Westwood Community Church. We exist to help people be and love like Jesus. We do this through relevant Bible teaching, modern worship and creating a variety of opportunities for significant and supportive relationships. Whether this is your first time visiting a church or your thousandth time, we want you to feel welcome here. Come as you are—in jeans or your Sunday best. Wherever you are in your faith, we want to meet you and help you navigate life.

Our History
Westwood Community Church began in 1995 as an outreach to the Southwest Minneapolis suburbs by Wooddale Church. During the early years, Westwood held services in rented locations until a permanent church building in Chanhassen was constructed in 2003. Just as our roots grew out of a desire to share God’s love in communities that are lacking churches, in 2011 we helped start Westbrook Church in Chaska.
We now have four campuses – Bush Lake Campus in Bloomington, Chanhassen Campus in Chanhassen, Westonka Campus in Mound, and our Online Campus. We also offer a traditional service called The Chapel, hosted in the Woodside Worship Center at our Chanhassen Campus.
Baptism
Baptism is an outward declaration of an inward change. Now that you’ve made a decision to follow Christ, this is an opportunity to show others that you’ve turned from your old life of sin and are taking the next step in your faith journey as you publicly declare new life in Christ.

Preparing for Baptism
Communion
“In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.’” 1 Corinthians 11:25 (NIV)
Communion is a time to remember Christ’s sacrifice for us and the new relationship we have with God through faith in Christ. At Westwood, communion is typically observed on the first Sunday of the month. Everyone who considers themselves to be a follower of Jesus is invited to receive communion. You do not need to be a member of Westwood Community Church. The elements we use are grape juice and bread. Gluten-free bread is available.
Children are welcome to participate. As a parent, you can help determine if they are ready by using these questions as a guide:
Has your child made a personal decision to follow Jesus Christ as his or her Savior?
Do they understand the meaning behind the elements of communion and what they symbolize?
Denomination
Westwood is part of a network of churches called Converge Worldwide. Converge is a movement of churches working to help people meet, know and follow Jesus. They do this by starting and strengthening churches together worldwide. For 170 years Converge has helped churches bring life change to communities in the U.S. and around the world through church planting and multiplication, leadership training and coaching and global missions.
