Special Families Ministry
What is Special Families Ministry?
Special Families exists to support, encourage, and equip families experiencing special circumstances, including those with physical/mental disabilities, behavioral challenges, and trauma backgrounds through providing one-on-one, small group, and program level support.
Who do we serve?
As a ministry, we aim to serve the entire family.
We serve PARENTS through providing a safe, educated setting for their children while they take time to worship and build community.
We serve CHILDREN through accommodated programming and trained volunteers.
Chanhassen Campus Specific
Currently, our Sunday morning programs are provided solely at the Chanhassen Campus. As our ministry grows, we hope to expand these offerings to all our campuses.
Sunday Morning Lilac Room
The Lilac Room is our accommodated classroom available for students with special needs on Sunday mornings and is available during the 10:30am service. This classroom includes messages designed to interest and meet the needs of those unable to succeed in a typical classroom. Curriculum includes singing and dancing, a Bible story, and a craft.
Guardian Angel Volunteers for Sundays and Wednesdays
Guardian Angels are our one-on-one volunteers that can accompany a student with special needs into their classroom. This allows students to continue in their regular classroom with their peers.
We provide two respite nights a year! Respite Nights work to provide parents with a much needed break. We provide dinner, games, a movie, and more for kids to enjoy. These nights are open to children with special needs as well as their siblings.
