Special Families are special here

Westwood is a welcoming place for all, including those with special needs. The Special Families Ministry recognizes the unique needs of families of children with special needs or disabilities. It is a privilege to come alongside families in support so they can worship and participate in community here at Westwood.

At Our Sunday Services:

Guardian Angels Program: Our ministry provides one-on-one caregivers called “Guardian Angels” (GAs) for individuals with special needs during our Sunday worship services. Our Special Families Ministry team works with each family to determine whether their child, with a GA, attends either typical programs with their peers, learns in the specially designed GA classroom, or participates in a developmentally appropriate volunteer role.

Merge Students Classroom: A classroom environment at 9:30am for elementary age students and at 11:00am for older elementary and teens with special needs is taught by a Special Education professional. This class offers a curriculum tailored to the ability of each student in class. Classroom assistants are available to help the students as needed.
