2018 Christmas Concert
Friday, November 30th

Fill your heart with the sounds of the Christmas season. Westwood’s choir, orchestra and kids choir will be joined by national recording artist Jason Gray. Jason is an award-winning, Christian singer-songwriter whose songs have topped the Christian music charts. Tickets will go on sale Monday, October 29.


Bush Lake Woodside Worship

Care Training Event Sponsored by Care Partner Ministry

Please join the Westwood Care Partner Ministry for a unique training event for its Care Partners and Westwood Ministry Leaders. The presenter, Charles Puchta, is the author of the Care Partner Ministry training materials.  He is passionate about sharing information, insights, and inspiration pertinent to advancing a biblically-based approach to loving and caring for people.  We look forward to spending the morning with Charles, exploring ways to come alongside those in our church who are hurting and pointing them towards the love and hope found in Jesus.  You won't want to miss this great opportunity.


Care with the Love of Jesus Christ
Tuesdays, Sept 11- Oct 16, 6:30–8:30pm, Room B118 at Chanhassen Campus

Discover effective ways to carry the love of Christ into painful circumstances at home or work. This six-week interactive training explores God's call to care and how to recognize and respond to the hurting people we encounter everyday. Topics include: listening, feelings, boundaries, grief and loss, and prayer. 


Child Dedication Information Class

Babies bring so much joy to the life of a family and, whether through birth or adoption, the arrival of a little one is certainly cause to celebrate! Here at Westwood we love to take the opportunity in worship services to welcome, pray for and offer thanks to God for the life of a child through Child Dedication.Parents who are dedicating children for the first time at Westwood are strongly encouraged to attend this one-time, one-hour informational class that helps explain what Child Dedication is in our setting.

Fourth Sunday of Each Month

At Westwood, Child Dedication happens during regular worship services, generally on the fourth Sunday of each month. This is a formal, special way to give thanks to God for the precious gifts of a child He has bestowed upon us.


Choir and Orchestra Christmas Concert Rehearsals

Warm up your vocal chords or dust off your instrument case and come share your musical talents in the Westwood Choir and Orchestra. We would love to have you join us this season as we prepare for the Christmas Concerts on Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1!

New Team Seeks to Serve the Vision for Evangelism at Westwood.

Do you have a heart for sharing your faith or would you like to grow in this area?   We have a number of Westwood attenders who are passionate about communicating Christ’s love in public and in personal situations.  Several have come together to form a leadership team in this area to serve our fellowship and better equip us to reach out at home, in our neighborhood, at school or work or wherever we might be.  If you would like to learn from those who are doing it, our team would love to hear from you.

GriefShare
Mondays, October 1–November 26, 7:00–8:30pm, Room A205 at Chanhassen Campus

Grief isn’t meant to be experienced alone. Join us for a Christ-centered support group for individuals experiencing grief from the loss of a loved one. The start each meeting includes a video teaching and discussion. We’ll then separate into a small group that identifies your specific type of loss (parent, spouse, child or friend) and offer personal reflection, group interaction and encouragement to one another. Group Leader Training

God created us to be in relationship with each other. Great things happen in genuine Christian friendship. We are encouraged, supported, challenged, and so much more. If you sense God prompting you to lead this kind of community, we have training available online that will help you prepare.  After you complete the training, you will be provided with coaching from our Small Group Ministry Team to walk alongside you and answer any questions you may have about leading a small group.


HSM Fall Retreat
Friday, November 9–Sunday, November 11 at Big Sandy Camp

The Fall Retreat will be a great weekend at Big Sandy Camp in McGregor, MN, filled with worship, teaching, games, friends, bonfires, laughter, and so much more! We hope this is a life-changing weekend for your student as they continue to understand the life-changing love of Jesus.



HSM Goes Hunting

You’re never too old for a scavenger hunt! You and your small group will go throughout Chanhassen and surrounding cities looking for specific places, people or things in order to win an awesome prize. Special guests will make appearances, and a small group will be named Hunting Champions of the world. Don’t miss out!


HSM Wednesdays - High School Ministry (Grades 10-12)
Wednesdays, September 12–May 15, 8:00–9:30pm, Woodside Room at Chanhassen Campus

Life is a journey, and students in grades 9-12 are beginning to understand what that means. Some may desire to grow in their relationships with Jesus, others are just trying to figure out who God is and wonder if faith is real. Regardless of where they may find themselves, they are welcome at High School Ministry. Students are taught, challenged and encouraged through dynamic large group experiences and intimate small group time.


Kids Creative Arts Fall Programming (grades 3 - 12) - Skits & Worship Teams

Students can develop their creative talents and gifts as they are placed on teams that will lead worship and perform skits during our Kids Ministry programming on Sunday mornings.  You tell us what works for your child's availability.

Westwood’s Kids Creative Arts are designed to prepare kids & students grades K-12th for a lifetime of serving and glorifying God by helping them develop their musical & artistic gifts.

Younger elementary kids will grow their creative talents as they learn to worship through singing and acting by rehearsing an exciting musical that will bring the Christmas story to life! 

Performance is Sat. November 17 @ 10:00AM in the Woodside Room.
Kids will be preparing to perform a musical called "The Loaned Manger" by Little Big Stuff Musical.  We have speaking parts, solos, duets, dancers, bells and boomwhacker parts available!!!!  



Kids Creative Arts Programming (grades 3 - 12) - Kids Christmas Choir

Westwood’s Kids Creative Arts are designed to prepare kids & students grades K-12th for a lifetime of serving and glorifying God by helping them develop their musical & artistic gifts.

Kids & Students will prepare to sing 2-3 musical selections in our Westwood Christmas Concert with a live orchestra AND guest artist Jason Gray!!!  This will be an amazing opportunity!  The Choir & Orchestra Christmas Concert is November 30th & December 1st.

Westwood Kids Ministry invites your family to an afternoon of old school fun, bowling at Country Club Lanes. Have a blast with your family while getting to know other Westwood families. Cost includes bowling and shoes. Foods is not included, but is available for purchase.


Life Transformed: Learning to Live Like Jesus

Life Transformed is an interactive 4 week gathering taught by Westwood pastors that will equip you and encourage you to grow in your faith. We will unpack what it means to be a follower of Christ, how to plug into community here, understand your unique gifts and learn how to use them to bless others. You'll meet and spend time with others just like you who are also learning what it means to live a life transformed by Jesus.  If you have not yet taken a step of involvement beyond worshiping on Sunday, or if you’re looking for a new start, Life Transformed is for you. Childcare is provided.

Moms Connect Morning - Fall 2018-Spring 2019
Every Other Friday, September 21-May 10, 9:30-11:30am, Room A112 at Chanhassen Campus

Moms Connect brings mothers of school age kids (K-12) together as a community that can share, laugh and go through life as a mom. We are focused on topics that strengthen our hearts and build relationships. Registration will open in early August.

MOPS Evening (Mothers of Preschoolers)
One Thursday per month, October 11-May 9, 6:30–8:30pm, Room A112 at Chanhassen Campus

MOPS Evening is a gathering for women who have children birth-age 5. We meet approximately monthly Oct-May, Thursday evenings 6:30-8:30pm for encouragement, topical conversation, prayer and community. Childcare is not provided. Registration opens early August. Scholarships available.

MOPS Morning (Mothers of Preschoolers)
Every other Thursday, September 13–May 9, 9:30–11:30am, Room A112 at Chanhassen Campus

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) is open to moms who have at least one child age 5 and younger. We celebrate motherhood by encouraging one another, learning from relevant speakers and connecting in friendship within a small group. Raising kids is beautiful and hard, we need others to journey within it. Childcare is available at an additional fee.

Registration opens early August. Scholarships available.

Do you need a date night or some free time to do Christmas shopping?  Well, do we have a gift for you.  Bring your kids (5 - 12 years old) to The Warehouse/Student Space and some very capable and excited Kids Ministry Volunteers will watch your child(ren) for the evening.

We like to do business with establishments in Minnetonka, so Toppers Pizza will supply dinner and we'll have beverages and a yummy desert.

safeTALK
Friday, October 19, 1:00-4:30pm or Saturday, November 17, 8:30am-12:00pm, Room A205 at Chanhassen Campus

safeTALK is a half-day training in suicide alertness.  It helps equip participants to take an active role in responding to persons expressing thoughts of suicide and connect them with resources to help them choose to live.  Anyone age 15 or older who wants to make a difference can learn the safeTALK steps.

Surviving the Holidays

Wondering how you will survive the weeks surrounding Thanksgiving and Christmas?  Are you dreading the holidays, knowing that everything has changed?  Surviving the Holidays was created for those grieving the loss of a loved one.  You'll learn how to deal with the many emotions you may face during the holidays, what to do about traditions and other coming changes, helpful tips for surviving social events, and how to discover hope for your future.


The Marriage Course
Mondays, October 1-November 12, 6:30-8:30pm at The Outpost Center

The Marriage Course will help you strengthen your marriage.Topics covered include: Recognizing each other’s needs, learning to communicate effectively, resolving conflict, healing past hurts, knowing how to make each other feel loved, the impact of family past and present, good sex, making time for each other and having fun together. There is no group discussion and no requirement to disclose anything about your relationship to anyone else.


Transformational Leadership

Take your influence to the next level at home, at work and in ministry through this Transformational Leadership Course. We will meet twice per month, October 14 through April 14, on Sunday afternoons from 3:00-5:00pm.

If hearing God has seemed challenging, we invite you to explore a more intimate relationship with Him, one that can make hearing Him - His will, His heart, and His voice - your ongoing experience. Join us, and discover how you can listen with greater confidence, clarity, and discernment. This study by Priscilla Shirer has been updated and substantially expanded, with daily opportunities to understand the Holy Spirit's role in your life.

Wednesday Morning Childcare
A childcare program is offered for children, birth through age 3, of women participating in Bible Study on Wednesday mornings. The mission of the program is to provide loving, quality care and biblical teaching for children in a secure, Christ-centered environment. Each child must be registered online by Sept 19. Childcare space is limited and fills quickly. Cost: $30 per child. Childcare fees are non-refundable.

Women's Holiday Dessert
November 12, 13 and 14, 7:00pm at Chanhassen Campus

The Women’s Holiday Dessert is a time for women to come together to celebrate the coming Christmas season. It’s a time of friendship, encouragement, inspiring music and of course, decadent desserts. Speaker is Polly Patrick and there will be music from Tonia Hughes Kendrick. This is a great event to invite friends and family who might not have a church home. You’ll leave with your heart encouraged and prepared for the most wonderful time of the year.
