Register

The Engage Your Mind Series are a series of events that allow us to step into theology and biblical study in a deeper way together. We’ll be bringing in theologians, researchers, professors & experts to speak to various topics over the course of these seminars.

Speaker: Dr. Douglas Groothuis, Denver Seminary

Topic: Dr. Groothuis will examine the Christian worldview and compare the various truth claims made with other prominent worldviews to determine the logical plausibility of the Christian faith.

About Dr. Groothuis:

Dr. Douglas Groothuis has fire in his bones for the Christian message and many irons in the fire to explain, defend, and apply that message. He has been explaining the world to the church and explaining the church to the world for nearly fifty years through his teaching, preaching, writing, mentoring, and general witness. His passion is to take to the streets the truth and significance of the Christian worldview for all of life. To that end, he publishes both academic and popular works, preaches in churches, gives public lectures, and engages in debates. Since 1983, he has appeared on hundreds of radio programs and podcasts. His students and peers regard him as a knowledgeable, sharp, and forceful yet gentle communicator of the Christian message.

Dr. Groothuis holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy (University of Oregon, 1993) and is Professor of Philosophy at Denver Seminary where he heads the Christian Apologetics Master’s degree program. He is the author of nineteen books, beginning with the best-selling Unmasking the New Age (InterVarsity Press, 1986) and including the popular and voluminous textbook, Christian Apologetics, 2nd ed. (IVP Academic, 2022), as well as a poignant memoir, Walking Through Twilight: A Wife’s Illness—a Philosopher’s Lament (InterVarsity, 2017), an introduction to philosophy, Philosophy in Seven Sentences (InterVarsity, 2016), and a bold critique of Critical Race Theory, Fire in the Streets (Salem Books, 2022). He co-authored the introductory textbook on apologetics, The Knowledge of God in the World and in the Word (Zondervan-Academic, 2022) with Andrew Shepardson. He most recent book is World Religions in Seven Sentences (InterVarsity, 2023).
