IT WAS THE SINGLE HARDEST ASSIGNMENT that the Senior Investigator from International Justice Mission (IJM) had experienced in his 30-year career. For many years, he had led IJM teams into dark and dangerous places to rescue children and adults suffering violence. When he went with IJM to investigate child slavery in the West African nation of Ghana last year, he was wholly unprepared for what he saw...

Every year the entire Westwood family comes together on the Westwood campus to pack food for people in ravaged areas of the world. Last year, over 1,200 people came out to help for this event. This year, Feed My Starving Children will be our food pack partner. This is a great event for your family, a group of friends, small group or even with your neighbors. And in addition to the packing, there will be a small Outreach Exploration Expo as part of the whole experience. The expo will give you the opportunity to explore and learn about the various ministries Westwood has in the area and around the world.

God designed us to be in community with each other and lives are changed when people intentionally connect in a small group. Group Connect is a 2 hour gathering where you can meet people in your same life stage or part of town and form common ground to start a small group. Your group will meet at Westwood for two consecutive weeks. You will share a meal, get to know the other members of your group, discuss questions from Sunday’s sermon, and be given information on how your new group will operate for the next six weeks. This would be a great event to bring a friend. In order to guarantee that you will be in the same group, they must also register themselves. Donations will be accepted to help defray the cost of the meal.

God has placed it on the hearts of our students to make an impact in the world around them by being a light that shines for the Lord. Upper Room and En Route students excitedly gathered on December 29 to bless others and pack meals at Feed my Starving Children. They packed thousands of meals that will help bless and sustain those that are impacted by scarcity of food, unclean water, parasites, and systemic poverty in Guatemala. We pray that those who receive this food will grow to know Jesus and come to follow and glorify Him as their personal Savior.
